LA Wildfires: VITAL Resources and How to Give Cake *UPDATED
Mutual Aide Resources and Wildfire Birthday Cake Initiative
Like most people in Los Angeles, 2025 has meant fire and checking in on loved ones around the clock. But it has also meant mobilizing rapidly and doing as much as possible to help our city. I’ve known this is a city that cares deeply through years of fundraisers for larger organizations, causes and disasters elsewhere. But when it hits home, all the angels come out.
I pivoted to making cakes during the COVID Pandemic Years because I felt there was a need to bring joy, light and celebration in dark times. Much of Los Angeles is covered in smoke still over a week out from the wildfires that have ravaged my city. So many friends have lost homes and everything they loved - including jobs. But what broke me were the emails to cancel orders for children’s birthdays because homes were gone and things had to be deprioritized. So I am making cakes again for these people. You can purchase a cake to give to a displaced family on my website - Wildfire Birthday Cake.
The small cost covers ingredients, delivery and a small donation to World Central Kitchen that continues to feed first responders on the frontlines of the fires. If you are a displaced family with a child OR WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE AND SURPRISE ONE please fill out this form.
Taking action in any way is helpful. Even small ones. Joy is a powerful weapon against grief and PTSD. Help me make some small parties happen for those in need.
Here are some VITAL Resources:
I will keep updating these as I find them. Resources for donation, opportunities to volunteer if you are in Los Angeles, places to go for housing and clothing, where to go for free meals, gofundme pages, and other mutual aid.

Re:Her (Assistance for Women Owned Businesses)
I am hoping to amplify through my instagram stories any and all fundraisers throughout the United States for LA Wildfire Relief. If you are heading something up or know of something please dm me or email me (rose@eatredbread.com) so I can share.
It is estimated this is the most expensive national disaster in our country history.
Streaming: Watch Duty App Nonprofit showing fire response in real time, evacuation orders, food hubs and donation centers. IT IS NOT JUST FOR CALIFORNIA BUT GLOBAL.
Inspired by: Los Angeles restaurant workers generosity. The people with big hearts and no deep pockets have stepped up in a huge way to feed the people who’ve been displaced as well as first responders. I am blown away by LASorted’s Pizza Alliance and what Courtney Storer is doing out of her garage. There are so many restaurants paying it forward with free meals to the displaced and first responders. There is no donor or grant supporting this work. Keep eating out and order in to support this community that always always steps up. List of restaurants offering food to the displaced. Or if a visual is more your style.
